At the most basic level, remote viewing is the ability to gather information from places that cannot be sensed through the normal five senses. Unlike other types of clairvoyance, remote viewing most commonly refers to the ability to detect things as they happen in real time, rather than events that happen in the past or in the future. This is an ability that has been mentioned throughout human history, though in ancient times, it was often considered to be something that was a sign of being particularly blessed by a god or by some other supernatural force. For many people in the modern era, there is a belief that remote viewing is something that is possible and that can be utilised very clearly. In the past, remote viewing has been a subject of study due to its possible use as an information gathering resource. One of the ways that it was tested was to seat a subject in a room and then to lift a card with a certain picture in another room. The card would be hidden from view and at certain distance away. The goal of the project would be to see if a person could learn about what was on the card without any hints being given of what was displayed. Due to the fact that studies like this were often conducted without attention to scientific rigor, there is a general perception that the method of remote viewing as something that is essentially a pseudoscience. Though there is no scientific proof of the phenomenon, there are many people who are convinced as to the existence of this ability in both themselves and others. For instance, they cite that throughout history, there have been reports of individuals who could see things that were happening far away. In some stories, mirrors or pools of clear water are used to see what is happening on battlefields or in countries that are very distant, and later on, reports have verified what had happened there. These stories may be folklore or inventions, but some people believe that they are evidence of a time when remote viewing was a power that was recognised and utilised. If you are curious about the idea of remote viewing and what it might mean, there are definitely experiences that you might try yourself. One common experiment involves finding another person and giving them cards with clear pictures drawn on them. Have them take the cards into another room and have them raise one card up. People who practice remote viewing suggest trying to picture other things in the other first, like the floor or the drapes that you know are there. Then, when you feel comfortable that you have the room well pictured in your mind, you can simply take your mind's eye and "turn" it so that you are looking at the card. This is a technique that you can try over and over again to find out for yourself. Remote viewing is a phenomenon that has touched cultures all over the world and at the moment, remains a mystery that continues to fascinate.
