If you have been thinking about becoming an electrician, then you've come to the right place. In this article, we will discuss what it entails to become an electrician, the procedures to become one and even some of the disadvantages of becoming an electrician. It is important to know all the aspects of becoming an electrician before actually applying for the job. The important think, the main part of this article, is that you must not apply for this job if you are not a big math or science fan. The honest truth is that you need to have brains for this job. It isn't a job you can do half-way. It's an all or nothing kind of field. You have to be determined, hard-working and able to understand complex procedures and wiring that will be taught to you through your apprenticeship years. What does an electrician do? An electrician works with electricity; it's a simple as that. However, it does become more complex, an electrician needs to know how to safely install wiring systems into homes and businesses. They need to know safety regulations. They need to be able to read and interpret drawings of electrical configurations. They must be able to install and fix these systems. Due to the fact that the electrician wiring systems are always becoming better and becoming more safety conscious, an electrician must always be ahead of what he is doing. How do you become an electrician? You become an electrician by applying for an apprenticeship through The National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee. There you will be required to have an apprenticeship for four to five years, depending on how fast you finish your working on-job hours. You will need a minimum of 2000+ working hours on the job per year, and a minimum requirement of 144+ classroom hours that you will have to attend to learn the proper information for your electrical career. Once you have finally finished your apprenticeship, you need to spend some time studying up and writing an exam that will get you your license in becoming an electrician. You can even go further and become a certified electrician in a specific field or industry you might enjoy. Requirements to become an electrician Besides getting your qualifications, there are a few requirements that we suggest one having personally before deciding on this career. It would help you a lot if you took mathematics, science, electronics and mechanical drawing in high school. This will better prepare you for the difficulty of the work load you will be required to take in your apprenticeship. You must be aware that you are going to be in a very risky field. You must be hard-working and aware at all times. You mustn't be distracted easily as making a mistake in a wiring situation can cost you your life. If you believe you have what it takes to become an electrician, then don't hesitate. Call The National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee and become and electrician today.
