Many women are unaware that rape is a very common occurrence in regards to blind dating. If you are a woman, and you are active in the blind dating scene, it is important that you have the knowledge and skills required to prepare yourself for what could happen. If you're lacking the physical capabilities to defend yourself, such as knowledge of martial arts, there are other options available on the market that will provide you with the protection you need, when you need it. These options include pepper spray, stun guns, mace, and many others.
One of the most common forms of meeting new people and forming new relationships is through blind dates. Most blinds dates are set up through mutual friends, and in most cases, the two individuals literally have no clue as to who they are about to meet. In fact, the only information you may be given about your blind date might only include a first name, and what they are wearing that night!
One of the problems of an arrangement like this is that very often your friend, who arranged the blind date for you, does not know the other person very well. One option for women's self defense is a device called a stun gun. A stun gun temporarily shuts down the body's electrical pulses which are transmitted from the brain, to the rest of the body. When this happens, the body becomes momentarily paralyzed, and the attacker becomes incapacitated for a short period of time. The device must be held against the body to be effective, so you must be within close proximity of the person you wish to disable. Stun guns are compact in size, and they come in various disguisable forms, such as cell phones or pagers. The resulting injuries from a stun gun are not long term, and the body will eventually make a full recovery.
Pepper spray is also another effective product that a woman should consider for a means of self defense. It is available in many different shapes and forms, such as a pen, lipstick, lighter, and many other disguisable options. They are also very compact and concealable, and they are very user friendly. When pepper spray comes in contact with the skin or eyes, it causes an extremely hot burning sensation which will stop an attacker in their tracks, and allow for clean escape.
As you can see, there are many options available to you that are an excellent source of personal protection when on a blind date. The options mentioned above are an excellent choice for personal protection, as they are non-lethal, and extremely effective. Many women do not consider the option of carrying personal protection until it's too late. Never assume that danger will never cross your path-always be prepared for the worst, but expect the best.
