Comfortable Sleep in a Bag

Who would have thought a bag would make, by certain standards, as good a bed as that cozy, comfortable one in your bedroom. The idea of packing away your bed is captured in this invention which an Icelandic saga credits to a brave lady explorer named Freydís Eiríksdóttir who used a sail to keep her warm at nighttime. The sleeping bag is essentially a blanket that you zip. Its convenience lies in its mobility and ease of packing. It is a light carry-on bed convenient for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking or even climbing. For outdoor activities the key feature of the sleeping bag is its ability to provide thermal insulation. Designs for such purpose are weather-proofed. Materials such as wool used in some sleeping bags are resistant to water although its weight offers a drawback. Designers have in mind several factors when it comes to their design among which are the "upper and lower temperature limit" which measures the highest and lowest temperature at which a comfortable sleep is achieved by a standard adult man. There is also the so-called "comfort rating", which is measured according to a standard adult woman's comfortable sleep. An "extreme rating" on the other hand is based on the plain survival comfort of a standard adult woman. All these are based on Europe's EN 13537 Standard. When choosing a sleeping bag the temperature you expect to encounter is a key factor to consider. The shape may give a clue on which bag insulates better as in the case of a mummy-style bag. Also, the varied sizes of sleeping bags available allows the user to choose between having more room for movement, as in the case of a large bag; or being able to contain the heat generated within a small space - a comfort achieved by a smaller-sized bag. Your own tolerance to cold is also an internal, personal guide to your purchase. Consider also the circumstances you anticipate when you use the bag. Certain questions must be entertained like whether or not you would be using it within a tent; what season of the year it is; how much load you are taking with you which would help you decide how much bag weight you can bear; or how much space you can afford for packing a sleeping bag. A good buy means a comfortable rest after a day of outdoor fun. Such convenience is in tune with modern, this-day, active lifestyle age. The sleeping bag with its continually innovated designs fits right into an era of fast-foods, quick fixes, easy-to-open-cans and handy tools and gadgets. It is a relatively new trick for old hobbies. Talk about taking sleep wherever you go. After all, who says you can't have your bag and sleep on it too? Who would have thought a bag would make, by certain standards, as good a bed as that cozy, comfortable one in your bedroom. The idea of packing away your bed is captured in this invention which an Icelandic saga credits to a brave lady explorer named Freydis Eiriksdottir who used a sail to keep her warm at nighttime.
