The idea of packing away your bed is captured in this invention which an Icelandic saga credits to a brave lady explorer named Freydís Eiríksdóttir who used a sail to keep her warm at nighttime.
The sleeping bag is essentially a blanket that you zip. Its convenience lies in its mobility and ease of packing. It is a light carry-on bed convenient for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking or even climbing.

Also, the varied sizes of sleeping bags available allows the user to choose between having more room for movement, as in the case of a large bag; or being able to contain the heat generated within a small space - a comfort achieved by a smaller-sized bag. Your own tolerance to cold is also an internal, personal guide to your purchase.
Consider also the circumstances you anticipate when you use the bag. Certain questions must be entertained like whether or not you would be using it within a tent; what season of the year it is; how much load you are taking with you which would help you decide how much bag weight you can bear; or how much space you can afford for packing a sleeping bag.
