As much as possible, parents like us want to take care of our children personally because we know that we are the only ones who will give them enough love and care. However, if you need to work and really have to employ a nanny or babysitter, would you just entrust your children to someone you barely know? Well, only irresponsible parents would do such a thing. A responsible parent would make sure that the person left to look after their kids is trustworthy and reliable. Thus, it is just wise to have a potential sitter or nanny background checked.
You might think that having someone's background checked is too time consuming and costly. However, if you truly care for the welfare of your children, the cost of making sure you are leaving them in good hands is worth every penny. It is extremely important that we get to know as much as we can about the person who will take care of our children in our absence. This will somehow give us an assurance that our children will be well taken cared of while we're away.
Accordingly, we should think of background checking as an investment. If we exert a bit of effort and money for this service, we will reap its benefits later on. On the other hand, if we become too stingy and think that doing a background check on your children's sitter is a waste of moeny, you may actually be putting the lives of your children at risk. Remember that if you are not at home, the nanny or sitter is 100% in control of your household and children. There have already been a lot of news about abusive babysitters and worse. Why wait for something like this to happen, when you have the power to choose the right person for your children? By doing a background check on the potential care-giver of your kids, you are making sure that your children will be alright even when you are not by their side.
I cannot believe people who say that they love their children yet do not take the time or energy to make sure that they are getting the right people to look after their kids. We have long heard of babysitter horror stories wherein children got harmed because their parents hired the wrong babysitter. There are even worse cases like murder or child molestation. These incidents may be horrifying, but they are true stories, and parents like us should learn valuable lessons from them.
So do not be complacent in choosing the right care-giver for your children. Make sure that the person you will choose is psychologically stable and does not have a history that may put the life of your child in prejudice. And you can never know for sure unless you uncover the past of your potential babysitter. Whether that person has a negative or positive history, what you'll discover through background investigation will help you make the right decision for your children. It's better to lose a bit of money and time if it is for the well-being and safety of your kids.
