• Anytime, anywhere
It's becoming more and more unusual to find someone who doesn't have internet access, and just as uncommon to find someone who doesn't have a cell phone. Both have become almost indispensable, and now that internet can be accessed by cell phone, they are only going to become more so. An exorbitant amount of time is now spent on the internet due to nearly unlimited access, and this is a great opportunity for those who provide, or who are looking for, online Bible studies. Whether in the home, traveling, working, or simply out and about, anyone who wishes can do a study. Of course, with everything else on the internet, it's hard for one to focus on studying the Bible, but for those who really want to know more about God's Word, plenty of resources are available.
• Evangelism online
Since the use of the internet is ever-increasing (over one-billion people use it), it would stand to reason that it would be a prime place for evangelism outreach. A statistic from about three years ago says that approximately thirty percent of those on the internet are merely surfing the web, with no particular destination in mind. No matter how small the possibility, if online Bible studies are offered, a web-surfer may run across it and stop to read. Also, if you have friends or acquaintances who are unable or unwilling to do a study with you, having websites to send them to may be the ticket. One won't often neglect the opportunity to look something up on the internet, unless he's completely turned off by the subject.
• With you in mind
One thing I've observed since the development and popularity of the internet is that even people who don't like to read have little problem going online and reading numerous tidbits of information on websites. As Christians, it's important that we read our Bibles since there is nothing more important than knowing what God wants us to learn through His Word. However, the internet can be such a benefit for one who dislikes reading. Online Bible study provides quick helps in answering challenging passages, and can save the hassle of driving to the nearest Christian bookstore where they may or may not carry books on a specific topic of study.
For those who like details, the internet is a place where a large variety of details is given. There can be much information given on any Bible topic, and though sometimes it's the same basic info, it's often worded in different ways, which can trigger one's understanding.
There are always those who study debated issues, and since the internet is worldwide, many Bible topics are debated by people all over the world. It can be a good way to understand the interpretations of a number of religious sects, but must be approached with caution. Anyone wanting to debate, or learn how others present Bible studies must be sure they know the Bible, and are standing firmly in its truth.
Enjoy your online Bible study!
