Section 2. In which he has morality to guard the body, speech, and mind, so that they shall be correct and orderly. The reason being that good morality leads away from the four realms of misfortune and the Buddha, who understood the misdeeds that arise due to bad morality, saw the advantages of guarding morality, which are as follows :1 1) It is wrong to kill beings; it leads one to the realms of misfortune; and when one gets free of the realms of misfortune and is born as a human being, then one will have much sickness with old age coming early. 2) It is wrong to steal things; it leads to the realms of misfortune, and when one gets free of them and is born human, one will suffer from poverty, and one will be in want of food and clothing, and having got them, others will come and steal them. 3)It is wrong to behave incorrectly in regard to sensuality ; it leads to the realms of misfortune, and when one gets free of them and is born human, one's wife and children will be unfaithful; they will be stubborn and hard to teach. 4) It is wrong to tell lies; it leads to the realms of misfortune, and when one gets free of them and is born human, one will lose one's possessions due to the deceit, trickery and the false accusations of others. 5) It is wrong to take intoxicating drinks and drugs; it leads to the realms of misfortune, and when one gets free of them and is born human, then one will be born dumb and insane; and when insane, one is not truly human. As for the benefits of maintaining correct morality; it leads to the Heaven realms, and when one leaves the Heaven realms and is born human, then one will be free from diseases, having a long life with plenty of wealth. One will not be troubled by thieves, one's wife and children will be faithful, obedient and easy to teach, one does not lose one's possessions to others due to deceit and trickery, and one will be free from dumbness and insanity. Setion 3. In which he does not believe in luck and is not disturbed by rumours; nor does he expect things to occur which do not follow the laws of cause and effect. For example, offering up prayers or sacrifices to something which is said to have magic power (such as an idol or a deity) and to have the ability to give wealth and good or bad luck. One should however have confidence in Kamma (Action), because one's material wealth will increase if one relies on action to bring it about. One is likely to make money if one goes and works for it, and the more work one does, the more money one is likely to make. As for one's internal wealth, this will also develop due to action. One's good acts lead to pleasant results and one's evil actions to unpleasant results.
